Waagwaan Frennies,
I’m a bit late with the email this week! …and I’m not sure how it happened 🤨 But here we are! A full two weeks into May, and summer has finally arrived in Sweden. It was 20 degrees yesterday 😳
I’m back this week using yet another Matrix reference.
The Matrix does not only represent a possible fall of the human race at the hands of AI, but also how easy it is for us to get comfortable with chains we cannot see. All the world’s rules, expectations and ideology were once thought up by someone, and usually a someone looking to benefit off of others’ willingness to believe him.
The real Matrix is not us bring plugged into a simulation, it’s us walking towards goals and check boxes on a list we didn’t choose nor write. It’s us referring to the drawl of capitalism as “the real world” or “reality” and our lives outside of it as “a moment of illusion” How whipped are we?
If you’re not taking steps to get closer to seeing who you really are, what you really want, working towards things that give you purpose, you’re living, not only outside of your design, but in someone else’s.
Here are some things I recommend doing to escape the Matrix:
Get clear on what your values are
Take more notice of the language you use. Is it empowering you or giving your power away?
Leave your space. Get out of ‘reality’ and touch base with reality. Travel, take a drive, sit in nature more.
Journal on your shadow. What has been drilled in you? From what space are you making decisions?
Ponder your Ikigai. Who would you be if you could be anyone?
I go deeper in this video,
A Jamaican, living in Sweden, with their Taiwanese partner, go to Warsaw Poland and attempt to weaken the matrix (with Chinese subtitles) ;)

✨ Check out her page.My Language Update:
Wow, our first language update! You all voted last week to include a weekly section talking about my languages and how I’m working on them. I’m a dedicated, slow but certain language learner, and I hope this will inspire you :) Thank you especially to Riley for the response! I’m never happier than when I get comments and feedback.
I’m currently working on Mandarin as my main focus, primarily on improving my Vocabulary. Last year, I focused on breaking my fear of speaking and succeeded.
My main method:
Sentence mining from TV shows, conversation practice and articles
Place in Anki with auto pinyin, zhuyin & translation (with plug-in)
Study daily for 10 minutes.
I have ADHD, so streaks and route memorisation isn’t my strong suit. But this habit has been completely changing the game for my Chinese skills. I’ve been learning much faster, and feeling comfortable enough to test using the words in practice.
Weekly Poll
I’ve sort of branded myself a ‘life-coach for global citizens’ and I was wondering if this word really meant anything to you. Vote below, and if you have a little extra time leave me a comment with why, or why not! <3
